| Important Alternatives Information |
|
- Doesn't Work - If you try a link and it doesn't work, try the "refresh" or "reload" button on the error message or on your browser.
- Try Again, Then Send - If it still doesn't work, send an email to scholen@aol.com identifying the link that doesn't work plus the page it's on.
- PDF Pages - Some links are to "pdf" files that will not work on your computer unless you have a copy of Adobe Acrobat software on your hard drive. Get a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Better, Newer Links - Please, if you know of an internet link, phone number, or other information that is more pertinent than - or should be included along with - what's currently listed, send an email to scholen@aol.com identifying the current link, phone number, or other information plus the page it's on - and the more pertinent or additional link, number, or other information.
- Area Agencies on Aging - In general, your best single site for alternatives will be your nearest AAA.
- Home Repair/Mod Programs - This is the "weakest link" in our Alternatives database. For every state, it includes two national search engines: for Rebuilding Together, and NeighborWorks agencies. As you become aware of other state or local home repair, improvement, or modification programs, please send the name of the program, the area it covers, the state it's in, and a telephone number or internet link in an email to scholen@aol.com
- Prescription Drugs: On every state page, there is a link to a database at Medicare that you can search by state and zip code.
- a. One Link - If the Medicare link is the only Prescription Drug link for a state, this means that the Medicare database did not include a program for the state when this part of the page was last updated. So you may want to check the database to see if a new program has been added lately. If one has, send an email to scholen@aol.com with the new state-specific link.
- b. Two Links - If there is a Medicare link PLUS a state-specific link, use the state-specific link. If that doesn't work, use the Medicare search link to see if the state now has a new link to this information. Then send the new link in an email to scholen@aol.com
- Thanks a bunch for helping us keep this Alternatives information accurate, pertinent, and up-to-date.
